Yarrow Valley Park

Post by Neil Southworth »

The grebes may have already lost one of their chicks as there only appeared to be two on mother's back today. The second pair of swans are down to two cygnets, one having been removed to the vets and onto a swan sanctuary. The four cygnets on Top Lodge are nearing full size. The seven young Coot are still with their parents so that seems to be a success story. Four young Mallard were still with their mother. The female Mandarin Duck was on Top Lodge but their was no sign of its one remaining young. At least 5 juvenile Black-headed Gulls were with the 20 or so adults.

The young Mandarin was there on Tues 30/6 sitting on the dead tree but the female was in the right-hand corner.
