Yarrow Meadows

Post by ianball »

Have just been updating my blog and have included a summary of spring on Yarrow Meadows...

Quiet down there this evening, although a second Whitethroat family have now fledged - lots of activity in the damp centre of the field.

20+ Swift, 10+ House Martin's, 4 Sand Martin and 2 Swallow before the (heavy) rain got me. Amazing how wet you can get in the last 100 yards home!
New patch of Common Spotted Orchid (c100) found. Singles of Ringlet, Small Skipper and Silver Y moth, along with many Meadow Brown.
River Yarrow looked like mud soup. Hope this was just riverbank erosion by the heavy rain and not anything worse.
