The Great Knowley old quarry/houshold tip must surely be the next SSI site in Chorley. A great range of species

I don't think it would ever merit SSSI status, but it could be a possible Local Nature Reserve (LNR). It must contain thousands of voles and is a feeding station for Kestrel, Common Buzzard at least 2 species of owl and others. It had a Skylark earlier this year (previously 2 to 3 pairs) wintering Common Snipe and Jack Snipe etc.

Another new species seen tonight - a Hummingbird Hawk Moth.
