The Great Crested Grebes now have 2 chicks. Dipper with 1 juvenile and Grey Wagtail with 1 Juvenile on the river. 1 Cormorant next to the raft and a Terrapin trying to get onto the raft, but the swans weren't having any of it, at one stage the female swan attacked it. Lots of Common Blue Damselflies and a Male Banded Demoiselle.

Re: Yarrow Valley Park
The pair of swans on the raft now have a chick, so they have good reason to attack the terrapin!

Re: Yarrow Valley Park
I suppose we should be recording these terrapins / turtles just as we do with any other feral / invasive species. The best I can come up with for the one in Peter's photo is Painted Turtle. Red-eared Slider is another possibility. If anyone knows any better, please post. Interestingly, there was a similar image on YVCPAG Facebook page, but it looked markedly different. I hope we haven't got a pair!

Re: Yarrow Valley Park
Stanley Park in Blackpool hold a lot of Red Eared Terrapins. Local people have told me that back in the 1950s someone dump some unwanted Terrapins in the lake. I have seen as many as 30 in one area, and the one at YVP is very similar.
