Hedge Cutting

Post by Dave Beevers »

A month ago on a regular walk down Mill Lane, Euxton the farmer was hedge trimming. Last night he was at it again on the same hedge which is now considerably reduced. Disgraceful at this time of year when the hedge of hawthorn and beech will have nesting birds.

It is illegal to cut hedges between the 1 March and 1 September to protect nesting birds as part of EU legislation, imposed by defra. The farmer should be reported. Although it is not illegal for the council to do the same. So ensure it was a farmer.
