Post by paul b »

Birds- mistle thrush, chiffchaff, magpie, 2 house martins, 10+ jackdaws, carrion crow, many rooks but leaf cover too thick to see and count; dunnock, robin, chaffinch and wren in song, pheasant

Mammals -four rabbits in field off Whins lane; eight in fields west of bypass. Fresh mole hills.

Flowering plants-greater stitchwort, forget me not, redshank, common vetch, bird's foot trefoil, marsh thistle, red clover, herb robert, wood avens, bluebell. prickly and smooth sow thistle.

Kudos to Chorley Council -verges have been cut about a yard wide at path edges but left long everywhere else -so cuckoo flower, creeping buttercup etc blooming well . Great to see -hopefully verges will be left uncut for all summer so we might see orchids, scabious, knapweeds and so on.
