Excellent reward for the hours you've put into that area Peter. Local patch birding at its best

Thanks Ian. Neil has just informed me it’s the first ever record in the Chorley Nats recording area. Dead chuffed.

First ever in Chorley, that's a cracking find Pete. However, now you have a new target of 9 warbler species in a morning -:)

I should have been in New York State this week co-leading a birding tour. I would have been in Central Park. Brilliant place for migrating American Wood Warblers.
Not bad compensation though the Cetti’s Warbler!

Great spot Peter, it was only a question of time before they moved into our area. Just need a Savi's Warbler now.

Heard this morning in two separate locations, the first time within the overgrown pond area next to the fishing ponds and then approximately 20 mins later about 100yds away adjacent the railway line. Could there be two of them?

Re: Cetti’s Warbler Wymott Ponds update
I recall discussing how Cetti's Warblers were becoming increasingly common whilst we were on a recent field trip to Lunt Meadows. Neil said, "Find me one in Chorley then". Well done for finding one! A sound to definitely stop you in your tracks. Brilliant.

Thanks
May be if you go down to Wymott Ponds there’s a good chance it’s still there. It was ranging around quite an area, mostly in the private high-fenced off land behind the fishing ponds. No chance of disturbance there. I agree it’s now a relatively common bird now.
