Common Bank Lodge and surrounds
Was very happy this morning to see a second Little Grebe back on the lodge. Pair of Coot have 3 chicks on the water. Pairs of Mute Swan and Moorhen as well. GS woodpecker calling and drumming around the lodge. Garden Warbler again, this time in scrub by the river to the north of the valley. 7+ Blackcap and 10+ Chiffchaff, Bullfinch calling and Mistle Thrush in the sheep fields.

Re: Common Bank Lodge and surrounds
Mamma Coot was still brooding on the nest this morning. I only saw one chick briefly off the nest. Dad was patrolling the lodge seeing off all-comers except the swans. Moorhen, Mallard and BH Gulls were all chased away. No sign of Little Grebe: perhaps they were keeping their heads down. In the woods, GS Pecker, Mistle Thrush, Goldcrest and 3 or 4 each of Blackcap, Chiffchaff and Nuthatch were the main birds of note.
