These are unofficial numbers given to ponds by Mike and I when we were mapping where ponds occurred in Hoghton with a view to surveying them.
The path to number 1 starts north off Chapel Lane.
If you are in the WhatsApp group you can contact Mike direct

Hi Mark.
I have numbered the ponds as 1 - 5 on a map I did for a walk early last year. I have since found two more ponds but these are on private land and I only visit them on dog walks at first light.

Pond 3 is just about in a public footpath. If you follow the public footpath that takes you from Chapel Lane to cross the railway via Tewit Hall footbridge. Carry on in the same direction along the public footpath through 3 fields and this takes you into a small wood, pond 3 is on your left. The pond has a small island with a Canada Goose nest on it.

Any problems then call me on 07464 953203.

The footpaths are mainly used by a few locals although we do have a couple of cars with dogs most afternoons but as the owners have been acting responsibly I have not kicked off.

Hi Paul/Mike
Many thanks for the info on the Hoghton Ponds area.
I am currently doing my daily allowed exercise/walk around Jack Green/Brindle Lodge and was looking for other local areas to visit (bird).

Hopefully will get chance to visit the area over the Easter weekend

Thanks again

No problem Mark. It should be doable to reach and do the short walk in your one hour allowed walk.
