Sparrowhawk soaring overhead. Bullfinch. Treecreeper. Goldcrest singing.

Small numbers of alder leaf beetles here too -wonder what, if anything, eats them?

Huge numbers of them in Astley Village
It would appear nothing eats them. If you squash them their insides are a horrible orange colour. I think even crows don't like them.
They've almost destroyed all 5 trees on a piece of land between myself & neighbour, two have had to be felled & the other three are struggling.
However, they're classed as quite rare in the UK,,,,, apart from the North West of England

1 Alder Leaf Beetle in my garden 8/4,Song Thrush singing out of sight in Ransnap Wood across my road and Mistle Thrush active on rooftops

Reading a book on hoverflies discovered that larvae of several species are predators of larvae of tree beetles: worth looking to see if any are around in the next few weeks
