Brinscall-White Coppice-Drinkwaters-Brinscall

Post by Jed Kirkham »

Early morning brisk walk.
Pair Buzzard over Brinscall at first light.
3 Tufted Ducks (2M 1F) on lodge near former print works
2 Grey Wagtail chasing each other on Goit nearby.
2 more Buzzards (or same pair as above) hovering virtually motionless over the bluff near Sharrock's (0650hrs), hanging in the northerly breeze wings partially folded, talons out - great to watch. 9 Redwing flying N over the bluff, also seen from Sharrock's.
Chiffchaff singing, Jay heard. Turned E up the hill, didn't go down to White Coppice.
Tadpoles now in puddles near Drinkwaters - Blackbird singing again. Pheasant - several encountered elsewhere too. Clouds rolled in around 0715hrs
Lots of Meadow Pipits and singing Skylark.

PM to Neil re other raptor activity

Mammals - 3 Rabbits in field W of Goit, one a large bruiser stood on hind legs, ragged ears. 1 Roe Deer M near Sharrock's.
