Great Knowley to Briers Brow via public footpath network

Back along Briers Brow, Blackburn road, public footpath to Chapel Lane, public footpath across field where Green Woodpecker was seen this morning, to Blackburn Road again and back across public footpath along Tanhouse Brook (3.24m). Late afternoon.

No sight nor sound of Green Woodpecker.

Birds seen/heard - 5 singing Robin, 6 Wren, 1 Dunnock, 6 Chaffinch, 4 Pied WAgtail, Greenfinch heard, 5 House Sparrow, 8+ Starling, 4 Blackbird, 2 Stock Dove, 1 Collared Dove, 1 Chiffchaff, several Carrion Crow Woodpigeon Jackdaw and Rook, 3 Goldfinch, 2 Long Tailed Tit, 4+ Blue Tit, 3 Great Tit and 4 Magpie.

2 Canada Geese feeding on former Great Knowley/Gorse Hall quarry late morning.

3 active Rook nests on east side of Blackburn Road

Mammals - molehills in several locations, plenty signs of Rabbits in Tanhouse Brook Valley

Len,
Strange that you say there are plenty of signs of rabbits in Tan House Valley - I've not seen one in the garden all winter which is most unusual.

Lots of holes and droppings on the north side of the valley in the various hedge bottoms. My son saw a couple on the quarry edge where they have been in the same bramble patch for years.
