Croston confluences / Finney

Post by MarkF »

Nice walk from Drinkhouse to the Lostock/Yarrow/Douglas confluences and then south to the Finney and back, 4 and a bit miles. Very cold!

Plants in flower - cow parsley, forget-me-not, garlic mustard, dandelion, according to my app also fig buttercup and lungwort(?). Early growth of hogweed, cleavers, hawthorn, speedwell. A few Molehills. No farm dogs :)

Couple of chiffchaff, a few reed bunting, 3 or 4 oystercatcher, jessy the kestrel over the douglas/yarrow confluence, peregrine over at speed nearby, pheasant, 4 or 5 shelduck, skylark singing, small flock of linnet, 4 yellowhammer, several lapwing displaying, pair of moorhen, 2 sandpiper (at distance, presume common), 200-300 woodpigeon over, single curlew, single buzzard, pair of snipe at Finney lane farm, kingfisher along cut near drinkhouse
