Bit of a waste of time. The moorland edge was bird free. It might have been connected with the shooters across the Goit who had bagged about 12 Mallard. At least I hope they were all Mallard. Three Tufted Duck which had been on Smith's lodge had disappeared when I went back to the car.
The only consolation was a Sparrowhawk over the village which gave me a new tick for the year.
