Arley Nature Reserve

Post by Neil Southworth »

Green Sandpiper was the bonus bird this morning with good views as fed along the edge of the feeder stream. The reserve itself seemed dead with the water level rather low, but eventually I managed to make out a few bits and pieces! Sightings:-
Mallard 2, Teal 3, Little Grebe, Grey Heron 3, Green Sandpiper*, Buzzard, Skylark, Nuthatch
Green Sandpiper takes me to 62

Tried my luck for the Green Sandpiper this morning before the rain and it paid off with good views about 930am on my return journey. Included ground views, a flight and call, again in the feeder stream. 5 Linnets and 20 Chaffinch in surrounding fields plus a Moorhen and a Mallard.

Sparrowhawk over A6 in Whittle earlier in the morning.

The Green Sandpiper takes me to 85 species for the year.
