The shooting had just started on my arrival but there were still plenty of birds around , 3 buzzard , merlin , kestrel , sparrowhawk , lots of snipe being flushed , good size flock of skylark and starlings , mallards on the river , whooper swans , lapwings and shelduck still on the flooded field .

Afternoon visit for me with still some shooting.

Fine male *Merlin was the highlight on hedges and hunting fields near the Yarrow. Similar sightings to Gary with 4 Yellowhammer and 2 Reed Bunting.

*Merlin takes me to 83 species for the year.
