Lower Healey

Post by Neil Southworth »

Lots of birds at Lower Healey today in contrast to previous visit. Firstly, Top Lodge had Mallard 29, Tufted Duck 7, Goosander 7, GC Grebe, Coot and BH Gull 8. Bottom Lodge had Mallard 2, Coot 6 and Moorhen 3. The lower slopes of the Nab were alive with corvids, probably 200+ including Jay 4, Magpie, Jackdaw, Rook and Crow. A Grey Heron flying over caused pandemonium with Mistle Thrush, Blackbird c20, Fieldfare c20, Redwing 50+, Chaffinch c20, Goldfinch 50+, Siskin 3, Bullfinch 2, Woodpigeon c12 all in the air at the eastern end of Old Bagganley Lane.
On the way home c400 Starling were flying around over Eaves and Harpers Lane.
Mammal: single Roe Deer.
