Post by gary lilley »

At last some decent waders have turned up , 2 greenshank were the star birds for me this evening found on pools next to the great close field they flew off high up heading west but did a sharp u turn and headed back to the moss and dropped down to another pool next to alma wood ( best viewed from track near to railway line ) still present when i left , other sightings 2 pairs of mute swan on the river both with young ( 4 , 3 ) 4 buzzard , 4 kestrel , 3 lapwing , several swallow , 1 sedge warbler seen carrying food , 3 pheasant , 2 red legged partridge , 8 mallard , .
Greenshank brings the chorley year up to 134 species .

Great spot - looks like I took a wrong turning this evening when I headed over the railway instead.

I did look distantly down towards those pools but nothing obvious was showing !
