Moss - Finney Lane (Bretherton)

Post by Neville Root »

7.00-8.45pm - several herring & LBB gull, flock of 8 Canada geese over, buzzard, kestrel, sprawk, back end of a partridge disappearing into a crop field, 200 corvids in a field (crow, rook, jackdaw), big numbers of woodpigeon (incl some collared and stock doves), jay, mistle thrush (4 incl 2 juveniles), skylark, juvenile reed bunting, linnet (4), goldfinch, several singing and calling yellowhammer. Nothing doing on Lancs longest manure heap off Finney Lane. Got back to the car on Moss Lane to see a barn owl hunting (8.30) for 15 mins or so and, eventually, catching a vole in some rough grass and then flying off with it.
