Mawdesley Moss

Post by Neil Southworth »

No Quail this evening. However, nice to hear up to 10 Corn Bunting singing, but with just 2 each of Reed Bunting and Yellowhammer. Also seen was a single but agitated Oystercatcher and up to 20 Lapwing. Along Wood Lane there was a family party of 7 or 8 Swallow, 2 singing Chiffchaff, Blackcap and 2 or 3 singing Song Thrush.
Butterflies:- Painted Lady 2, Meadow Brown
Odanata:- biggest surprise was a Southern Hawker flying along the track miles from any water.
