Circular walk down Back Lane through the fields, under the motorway towards Billinge Wood then back along the Yarrow.

Buzzard mewing and circling, blackcap, goldcrest, chiffchaff, 3 swift over, 2 goosander calling as they flew over. Also chaffinch, wren, blackbird, long tailed + blue tit, robin. Plenty fish rising on the Yarrow. Plants in flower inc. fringecups, oxeye daisy, cornflower, foxglove, hemlock water dropwort.

Getting back to the car at dusk I safely escorted a hedgehog across Back Lane.
