Anglezarke area

A few hours last night and early this morning around the Anglezarke area - the cool and breezy weather kept it quiet on the moors last night - kestrel hunting and catching prey and 2 crows harassing a red grouse on the ground who wasn't for moving (probably with chicks). Tawny owl flew across the Goit. Canada goose pair with 5 chicks, GC grebe on Yarrow R, curlew, lapwing, cuckoo, song thrush, redstart (m & f), grey and pied wagtail, wood warbler calling in Hatherlea (no hint of a song, but could due to presence of another one close by - but couldn't get a look at it), also heard a brief snatch of wood warbler song in the beech trees further up in Hatherlea off the path, nuthatch, blackcap, garden warbler still singing like a trooper next to the dried up lodge, willow warbler, chiffchaff, redpoll, treecreeper family (3).
Wood warbler takes Chorley species total for the year to 128.
