Yellow Wagtail !

Post by John Frankland »

On Eyes Lane in the same spot as last year about 4pm near the muck heaps (which are hidden from view from the road by a hedge).

Picked up on call and then seen well as it flew overhead to clearly see that it was a male ! Last seen flying west towards the big ploughed field but not relocated.

Also 2 Swallow, several Yellowhammer, 1 Whitethoat nd a few Stock Dove.

Yellow Wagtail takes me to 123 species for the year.

Good find John and it's still around this morning showing a couple of times (between 10.00-10.35am) on the manure heap. Also several lapwing, a few singing yellowhammer, pied wagtail (3, incl a possible white).

Yellow wagtail takes Chorley species total for the year to 118

No sign of Yellow Wagtail, 17:00 to 17:30 in dung heap area, however in this area I saw:

2 Pied Wagtail, 1 White Wagtail, 1 Yellowhammer (m), 1 Great Black-backed Gull & 3 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 1 Lapwing & 2 Carrion Crow.

Elsewhere on Eyes Lane were - Pheasant, 3 Herring Gull, 1 Mallard, 10+ Woodpigeon, 1 Chaffinch (h) and a glimpse of a Kingfisher flying along the ditch parallel to Eyes Lane.

Kingfisher takes my species total to 118.
