Brinscall Lodge/Heaterlea Woods

Post by Jed Kirkham »

14.55-16.05 hrs, spring-like walk. The Lodge had the usual flock of BH Gulls, along with the Muscovy Ducks, Mallard, Coot, Moorhen, Canada Geese.
Starlings & Jackdaws favour the rooftops around the chip shop.

In and around the woods were Blue, Great, Coal & LT Tits, House Sparrows, Robin, Woodpigeon, Goldfinch, Collard Doves, Nuthatches, Carrion Crows. Song Thrush singing near Heather Lea house, Blackbirds, Wren and Magpie. A pair of Goldcrests along Well Lane takes my total to 63 sp.

Mammals: A brazen buck Roe Deer only slowly wandered away from Heather Lea house as I approached to within ca 25m, also saw another Roe Deer (antler-less) 15 mins later in the woods.
