Waxwings

Post by Neil Southworth »

Three Waxwings behind the council offices with plenty of berries to go at, although they seem to be fly catching at the moment. Maybe the Blackbirds are keeping them at bay for the moment.
Waxwing takes me to 127.

I first spotted them at 11:15, then alerted the Whats Ap group at 11:18 after looking for Waxwings on berried Rowan Trees on Harpers Lane, Eaves Lane, Pilling Lane, Duke Street and Steeley Lane.

Waxwing takes my species total to 140.

Just 2 in evidence this morning, along with half a dozen Blackbirds and a couple of Mistle Thrush. That is until a male Sparrowhawk arrived on the scene, at which point they all departed, except for a single brave Great Tit which just scolded.
