Garden Fungus

Post by Mervyn Thornhill »

(if the attachment works - this is my first time of adding a photo). The attachment shows a fungus growing out of my leaf compost bin. Its the colour of fresh liver and the larger piece is about 4 inches across. Anyone know what it is please - I can't identify it in my books

Mervyn,

I suspect this may be an Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus), which can be very variable in colour and can be seen at most times of year.
