The weekend's rain has obliterated the spit at the north end of Anglezarke, and even the rocky island had only enough visible above the water for 3 Cormorant to perch. Consequently the Teal and Shoveler had disappeared, so there were just a few Mallard a Moorhen and 2 of the current local rarity - the Canada Goose!
Yarrow was better with 23 Goosander. The males appeared to be fighting over the females, who were ignoring them. There were also around 50 Mallard.
Upper and Lower Rivington had nothing but a few Mallard, several gulls and a dozen Cormorant between them.

The male shoveler was at the north end of Anglezarke on Sunday (2nd) afternoon Neil. Also noticed quite a few goosanders driving past Common Bank this morning (4th).

It's amazing what goosanders can do these days!
