Croston/mawdesley moss .

Evening visit till dark , on arrival 4 mute swan were on the douglas with 2 moorhen then i spotted 7 large thrushes which dropped in near to the railway which turned out to be fieldfares :D ( early date for the mosses ) 3 more were nearby feeding on hawthorn berries , 3 buzzard , the great c lose field held 150+ lapwing , 3 grey partridge flew low across the fields , a peregrine was perched at the top of a pylon looking down at the lapwings ,around 20 meadow pipit and lower numbers of skylarks , a few pheasants were on the open fields , large flock of mainly rooks passed over , 1 jay , small numbers of mallards flying around , around 400 pinkfoot were feeding over the railway on both mosses and left for martin mere at 7.00pm , heard snipe overhead on the way back in the fading light and 2 bats were out feeding not a bad evenings walk :D .
