Anglezarke Moors

Post by Paul Hodson »

A rather muddy hike around the moors today, didn't expect to see many birds in the mist and rain but I was wrong.
Highlight was a ringtail Hen Harrier, two sightings an hour or so apart but presumably the same bird.
Other sightings on the moors. Red Grouse 4. Meadow Pipit c30. Raven. Kestrel. Buzzard.

The area around the dead forest above Lead mine Clough had Crossbill 22. Stonechat 3. Mistle Thrush 2. Several Coal Tit. Song Thrush. Jay.

White Coppice. Dipper 2. Goldfinch 12. Bullfinch 7.
Grey Squirrel. Rabbit. Several fresh molehills on the cricket pitch (bet that's gone down well!)

Hen Harrier and Crossbill take my score to 132
