Anglezarke

Post by Paul Hodson »

A fine day for a hike over the Chorley 3 peaks, although bird sightings were few and far between.
Several small flocks of Meadow Pipits were heading west over Anglezarke moor and 2 Stonechat and a Raven were spotted on the way up to Great Hill.
Winter Hill was virtually lifeless, just a solitary Meadow Pipit battling against the wind and 3 Carrion Crows.
A Kestrel flew over Rivington Pike and the only birds in the Terraced gardens were a Blackbird a couple of Magpies and a possible Chiffchaff 'hooeeting' in the undergrowth.
Upper Rivington reservoir had several Mallard. 4 Pied Wagtail and a Grey Heron.
High Bullough Reservoir had 13 Tufted Duck and 7 Mallard.
Anglezarke Reservoir c60 Mallard. 2 Moorhen and a large party of mixed tits with a couple of Nuthatch and c40 Carrion Crow with a few Jackdaw
2 Buzzard soaring over Stronstrey Bank.

Fungi. Fly Agaric at High Bullough and a large clump of Shaggy ink cap by Anglezarke Reservoir,

Butterfly. Speckled Wood at Rivington.
