Winter Hill and Belmont Reservoir

Post by John Frankland »

Nice to meet up with Neville on the top of Winter Hill.

Quiet with a Peregrine being the best of a few Meadow Pipits, a Pied Wagtail and a Crow. Working party near the Rocket structure may not have helped.

We dropped down to Belmont Reservoir which was slightly better.

Teal c60. Mallard 40. Canada Goose 30. Greylag Goose 1. Pied Wagtail 2. Goldcrest 2. Lapwing 7. Meadow Pipit few. Buzzard 1. Cormorant 1. Misrule Thrush 2.

Best birds were another (or the same) Peregrine, 1 Siskin over south, 1 probable Stonechat and a female Pintail (sorry Neville, that was at the north end !)
