Re: Out and about
I wish I'd known you'd been to Withnell Fold, Paul. It would have saved me a trip! Purpose of the visit was to check if the recent rains had replenished the flashes at all. The answer to that was 'not really'. I didn't see any of your Lapwings. The pair of Mute Swan was still on the canal along with the flock of 15 hybrid geese, including two young birds which were still goslings on my last visit. Also along the canal were Kestrel and Grey Heron. A Kingfisher was also heard calling. There was light passage of Swallow, all heading south, including one party of 10 birds.
