Bretherton South - Yellowhammer Central

Morning birding walk from Bretherton across the Eyes to Red Bridge, along River and Back Lane (7.30-11.00). Woodpigeon, Blackbird, Blue Tit, Coal Tit, one Swift over Eyes Lane ca. 30 near Lostock Bridge, Nuthatch, Carrion Crow, Pheasant, Goldfinch (lots!), Reed Bunting, Whitethroat, GS Woodpecker, Swallow - approx. 50 around Red Bridge, BH Gull, Mallard, Moorhen inc one hitching a ride north on reeds in the centre of the R Douglas, Magpie, Greenfinch, Cormorant, Kestrel, Wren, Feral Pigeon - large one sitting on the embankment looked like a Great Skua, Stock Dove, Mute Swan, Linnet, Sedge Warbler, House Martin, Bullfinch. Seven Yellowhammer seen & heard singing: by the River Lostock and along hedgerows along and near Back Lane.
