Osprey!

One seen this morning ( 10.10 ) flying over anglezarke carrying a fish heading south and looking to land also spotted a common sandpiper , lots of canada geese , several mallard , small numbers of bh gulls , 2 heron , several juv pied wagtails , 1 redpoll .

After bumping into Gary, went on a wild Osprey chase but no luck. Other sightings;-

Anglezarke;- Oystercatcher
Upper Rivington:- Greylag Goose 35, Canada Goose 20, Mallard 6, Moorhen, GC Grebe 4, Grey Heron, Cormorant, Swallow, House Martin, BH Gull
Lower Rivington;- Kestrel, GBB Gull, LBB Gull plus 100 or so gulls on treatment works embankment
Yarrow:- Canada Goose 6, Mallard 30+ Moorhen 2, Cormorant, Little Ringed Plover, BH Gull 2, Pied Wagtail (family party of at least 4), Swallows, LT Tit flock

Great sighting Gary ! Tried my luck on the reservoirs tonight but unfortunately no joy.

Did manage:
Little Ringed Plover 1 on Yarrow “puddle” (it’s difficult to call it a reservoir now !)
Great Crested Grebe 7 (families of 3 on Lower Rivington and Belmont plus a single on Upper Rivington)
Grasshopper Warbler 1 reeling near Wards “puddle” car park.
Common Sandpiper 1 on small pool opposite Belmont.
Grey Heron 3 feeding north end of Anglezarke.
Lapwing c100 on south embankment of Lower Rivington
Mediterranean Gull 5 (2 adults and 3 juveniles) amongst 50 Black headed Gull at Belmont.
