Re: Tawny owls .
Excellent news, and to add:
For information -the BTO is getting "Project Owl" organised to start soon. It's two surveys -one will involve visiting specific places to monitor tawny owls - "Tawny Owl Point Survey" (TOPS).
In the other one, "Tawny Owl calling Survey (TOCS), volunteers will be asked to record when they hear or see owls on a weekly basis and all this information will help build a record of owl distribution and numbers. Anyone with access to a habitat that owls do, or could, use will be able to get involved.
Both surveys will make a big difference in increasing knowledge about owl distribution and density and help conservation efforts.

By the way, I am now "Regional Representative for South Lancashire" for the BTO -the first for some time apparently-and will be trying to get support for these and all the other BTO bird and wildlife surveys locally.
Chorley Nats has a fantastic number of really skilled and enthusiastic wildlife lovers who would be a superb asset for recording -and I know several members are already involved -their efforts are much appreciated.
If anyone not currently volunteering would like to know more about the surveys, please get in touch -PM on the forum is fine-and I'll get back to you.
Thanks
Paul Brennan
