Raptors and Odonata at Duxbury Park

Post by ianball »

A very pleasant round of golf with great wildlife for company. Buzzards, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel kept us company most of the round. Then by the 13th green a large raptor circling before flying straight over our heads - Osprey! Great views, and possibly yesterday's Smithills bird. Excellent numbers of Odonata - around the ponds on the 12th were Broad Bodied and Four Spotted Chaser, Emperor Dragonfly, Banded Demoiselle and many, many 'blue' Damselflies.
Young Great Spotted Woodpecker seen, as well as numerous Blackcap and Whitethroat in the right habitats.
Even finished with a birdie on the 18th :-)
