Oak Royal Golf Course, Withnell

Post by John Frankland »

A pleasant 9 holes on a new place for me in Chorley and a new course.

The course is still fairly young (c11 years old) and looks like reclaimed farmland but does have a pond and young trees.

Highlights were a Redpoll which landed in a tree near the car park and one each of singing Whitethroat & Chiffchaff. Mistle Thrush 1. Also, an alarmed Swallow (couldn’t see what was causing alarm) and a single Swift over. Single Lapwing over.

Flock of 20 Starlings over but didn’t contain any sunburnt ones.

A single Curlew passed east into the Chorley area over the M6 between 29 and 28 near Cuerden.
