Jack Green Breeding Bird Survey

Post by Neil Southworth »

Just 33 species recorded for the second visit to my BBS square at Jack Green, which was a bit disappointing. Possibly a bit too breezy - not many birds were singing and not much activity. Best bird was Lesser Whitethroat which thankfully was singing. Full sightings:-
Mallard 7, Pheasant 6, Spaarowhawk, Buzzard, Lapwing 2, BH Gull 7, LBB Gull 4, Woodpigeon 14, GS Pecker, Magpie, Jackdaw 3, Crow 6, Goldcrest, Blue Tit 11, Great Tit 11, Swallow 8, House Martin 2, LT Tit 2, Blackcap 8, Lesser Whitethroat, Nuthatch, Wren 17, Starling 6, Blackbird 16, Song Thrush 5, Robin 15, Dunnock 4, House Sparrow 5, Pied Wagtail 2, Chaffinch 17, Bullfinch, Greenfinch 4, Goldfinch 7
Numbers exclude young birds. The two LT Tits had several young and the adult Starlings usually had 2 or 3 young in tow.
