8.15-11.15am - from Nook Lane end: Canada goose (2), shelduck (8), mallard, various gulls following the plough, grey (4) and RL partridge (2), buzzard (3 incl one with a distinctive notch in its wing that kept appearing all over the mosses), kestrel, raven mobbing a buzzard (was told that a family of ravens had taken 34 out of 35 mallard chicks from a garden pond on Wood Lane), plenty of corvids, jay (2), single collared and stock dove, woodpigeon, lapwing (50+), pied wagtail, swallow, skylark, nuthatch, goldfinch, blackcap, common whitethroat (12+), chiffchaff, linnet, yellowhammer (6), corn bunting (8+), reed bunting (4). Farmer said he was part of a land stewardship scheme that among other things kept 4 x 4m squares on the fields clear for skylark.

Lepidoptera: good numbers of orange-tip, peacock and large\small whites on the mosses and a speckled wood on Nook Lane.
