White Coppice - Hatherlea Woods

Post by Neville Root »

5.45-7.30pm - rain stopped, but still too cold for spring songsters (w warbler excepted). Heron and dipper on the Goit, single curlew, little owl (heard), GSW (heard), 2 cuckoo in flight (1 calling) from Anglezarke direction towards the cricket ground, stock dove (4), chiffchaff.

Cuckoo and several Gillibrand N house martins take Chorley species total for the year to 126.

The one I saw was on the Goit in the wood itself, adjacent to the fishing lodge at what was Drakeshead kennels . First time I have ever seen one here. Is this unusual ? or have I just been walking around with my eyes closed?
