Hoghton Dippers - good news!

Post by Mike Graham »

Ever since Boxing Day 2015 when the floods took out all the roosts / nests I have been looking a couple of times a week for any Dippers. There used to be about 5 or 6 pairs beyond Hoghton Viaduct on the River Darwen. This morning I saw my first pair for over two years on rocks half way beweeen the Viaduct and the weir.

Watching them nest building with leaves this morning. Pleased to say the nest is inaccessible to humans. I may try and get a photo this afternoon.
