Yarrow Valley CP
A very short visit 9.00 am, five drake Goosanders on the big lake and Water Rail showing well. Video on Flickr.
Re: Yarrow Valley CP
Cracking vid. Saw the 5 goosander too, didn't see the rail, also Water Vole at top end, and Cormorant on raft. Heron upstream of weir.

Hi Mark.
Was it definitely a watwr vole you saw, there haven't been any sightings for several years at yvp so it would be a great record, thanks.

I am sure my colleague said Water but I will check vs Bank. Incidentally I have seen this fantastic (not for the vole) photo on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/18340398501649 ... =1&theater

Re: Yarrow Valley CP
Nice photo but looks like a bank/field vole rather than water vole to me.
Re: Yarrow Valley CP
Judging by the size of the small creature seen I would go Bank on that, too - thank you!

Water voles are increasingly rare, partly due to predation by mink. I agree the vole noted was not a water vole but a bank vole
