Out and about

Post by Leonard Poxon »

Chorley Cemetery:

Birds seen/heard Carrion Crow, Magpie, Woodpigeon, Nuthatch heard, Goldfinch, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Blackbird.

Mammals - at least 4 Grey Squirrel

Fungi: The frost has seen off most fungi, but there were some recently emerged Common Funnel and new in this week were some Aniseed Funnel.

Great Knowley:

Kestrel yesterday being pursued by a Carrion Crow and 3 Common Buzzard today.

On my way back from Worthington Lakes this morning I saw a female Goshawk as it flew in front of me across Wigan Lane, near to where Eller Beck crosses under the road; a lifer for me and in my old birding haunts too.

Goshawk takes my species score to 137.
