A Water Rail at the first pool was the highlight birdwise, but there was also a group of 4 Roe Deer which were in view all the time I was there. full sightings:-

Mammals:- Roe Deer 4, Brown Hare 3

Morning visit. 9.00-10.30
Teal 24. Mallard 6. Goosander, 8 flew in to land on the canal but changed their minds and scarpered when they realized I was there. Mute Swan 2, adult and juvenile on the canal. Skein of c60 Pink Footed Geese headed north. Moorhen 7. Snipe 2. Lapwing 200+. Grey Heron. Starling c300. Fieldfare c120. Redwing 12. Mistle Thrush. Bullfinch. Nuthatch 3. Long Tailed Tit c10. Great Tit. Blue Tit. Blackbird. Wren. Good numbers of Jackdaw and Carrion Crow. Jay 2. Raven 2. Kestrel. Buzzard.
