Field trip to Knott End - 29.10.17

Our next field trip will be a walk along the Lancashire Coastal Way, next Sunday 29th October, starting at Knott End. We hope to see plenty of waders and geese.

Meet at the main car park in Knott End near the ferry slipway - Grid Ref SD485346 - at 9.00 am.

Full sightings for the record:-
several small parties of Whooper Swans flew over, several skeins of Pink-footed Geese similarly, lots of Shelduck, Mallard, male and female Eider, several Little Egret, large numbers of Oystercatcher, Lapwing, Golden Plover, Redshank, Curlew, Dunlin, Snipe, BH Gull, Common Gull, Herring Gull, LBB Gull, GBB Gull, Woodpigeon, Skylark, Meadow Pipit, Grey Wagtail, Robin, Jackdaw, Crow, Starling, House Sparrow, Greenfinch, Goldfinch, Linnet
Insects:- White Ermine Moth caterpillars

On the way home we decided to whet our appetites for next months field trip by spending an hour at Marton Mere.
Highlights included Little Grebe. Water Rail. Shoveler. Gadwall and Chetti's Warbler
