Great white egret .

Great white egret was next to the flood on eyes lane this morning ( still present when i left ) in the tall grass with 2 herons it jumped up a couple of times and at one point its head could be seen just above the tall grass , on the water were lots of geese pinkfoot , canada , greylag , and 1 barnacle , 3 mute swan ( 1 juv ) 20 wigeon , 1 pintail dropped in , plenty of lapwing but no other waders spotted , 2 buzzard .
Great white egret brings my chorley list up to 138 species .

Just found it myself too before I saw your post ! :D Still present 1124am same place

Also 2 Ruff, 4 Pintail, 20 Wigeon and a Peregrine which has just scattered most things !

GWE takes me to 136 species

GWE still present showing well on the flood itself at 1230pm with 4 Herons before relocating back into long grass.

Also still present Pintail (now 5), Wigeon 20-25, Ruff 2 and Barnacle Goose 1.

20-30 Skylark, 3 Pied Wagtail and 3-4 Buzzard as supporting cast.

Still showing well at 1.15 in the flooded ditch (nr the pylon).

Great white egret brings Chorley species total for the year to 134

2.00pm in addition to today's previous sightings - pair of shoveler and 2 redshank flew from the flood upstream of the Douglas. Also, the egret had relocated onto the flood.

GWE is still active on the flooded field, took off this morning at 0815hrs, crossed the river into another flooded meadow near the road bridge.
