Croston/mawdesley moss Ruff !

An enjoyable evening on the moss with a flock of 7 ruff being the highlight spotted in flight coming from the direction of the mawdesley side heading towards burscough also seen mute swan , 1 kingfisher , cormorant and several mallard on river , 3 b uzzard , 1 kestrel , 1 barn owl ( 6.20pm and dusk ) 13 snipe , 1 jack snipe ( same pool ) , around 100 each of linnet and meadow pipit , 30 lapwing on a large area of flood water ( maybe the ruff were with these birds earlier on ) , 13 corn bunting , 10 + skylark , chiffchaff with tit flock .

In addition to Gary`s sightings. This morning; 700 plus Starlings around the moss. Corvids. Swallows. Well over 100 Goldfinch. 1 Yellowhammer. 1 Male Wheatear. 3 Canada Geese. 1 Grey Partridge. 1 Brown Hare and lots of Darters flying around.
