Withnell Fold flashes and canal.

Post by Neil Southworth »

Snipe and Teal numbers are building up nicely. The Snipe may have been new in as they were very active and flighty. They were difficult to count as a result but there must have been at least 20. Similarly there were at least 10 Teal but they were hard to count because they kept drifting in and out of the reeds. Lapwing numbers had increased to 140 and corvids were around 400, but Starling numbers had fallen. Full list:-
Canada Goose 30, Mallard 6, Teal 10, Moorhen 6, Buzzard 2, RL Partridge, Lapwing 140, Snipe 20, Stock Dove, Woodpigeon, GS Pecker, Sand Martin 2, House Martin 12, Swallow, Meadow Pipit, Pied Wagtail, Starling 40, Jackdaw / Crow / Rook 400, Chiffchaff
Insects:- Brown Hawker, Large White
