White Coppice

Post by Neil Southworth »

Heapey No.3 lodge:- The pair of Mute Swans seem to have lost their 3 young. There was no sign of them this morning and both adults were out on the water. The pair of Coot, however, are hanging onto their single young. Also at the site were Mallard, Moorhen, Grey Wagtail and singing Song Thrush, Blackcap and Willow Warbler.

White Coppice:- still plenty of Willow Warbler singing plus lots of birds flitting about in the bracken (try telling Willow Warblers that bracken is useless habitat!). Also several Lesser Redpoll flying about calling. Other sightings included Grey Wagtail feeding young, Swallow, Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Whitethroat, Song Thrush, family party of Mistle Thrush, family party of Great Tit, Nuthatch, Goldcrest, Chaffinch, Greenfinch, Goldfinch, Linnet
