Some casual local sightings

Post by Paul Whittaker »

Not been out the past couple of days but have spotted a pair of Goosander in flight along the Yarrow heading downstream towards Croston. Also, the Grape Lane Tawny Owls have found their voices the last 2 nights.
Interesting sightings from my garden include a Buzzard which is often perched on the wall or is on the ground in the adjacent field where there is a lot of mole activity. I've also had 3 Great Spotted Woodpeckers coming to the feed stations together although there is clearly a "pecking" order and a bit of aggression at times.
Goosander and Tawny Owl bring my year list in Chorley to 43.
